THE PULBOROUGH CENTURY

Inspired by a very early reference to a visit to Pulbourough by BCC as far back as 1899. The ride takes us in a south westerly direction down through Surrey and into the quiet lanes of West Sussex. The route does a figure-of-eight at Capel and then at Wisborough Green, the main coffee stop comes just before the halfway point, at Petworth.

You’ll note the deliberate mistake…the route doesn’t actually go to Pulborough! In 1899 they didn’t have to be concerned about the fast moving traffic on A-roads so our stop is the nearby and picturesque town of Petworth instead. We’ll continue to investigate what made Pulborough such a draw, back at the turn of the twentieth century!
