Distance 103km | 64 Miles
Our route takes us on a clockwise loop. South through the suburbs then up on to The Ridge via a local favourite, Beddlestead Lane. Continuing due south then up and over Crockham Hill. We then head east to Chiddingstone before making a westward turn past Hever, Edenbridge and Godstone. The homeward stretch takes us around Merstham, up the hill to Chipstead, heading back to Balham via Woodmansterne, Carshalton and Mitcham.
A few points to flag:
1. Hesiers Hill/Beddlestead Lane. Take care on the steep downhill section followed by the long uphill drag.
2. Single-out on the narrow stretch of Clacket lane.
3. After crossing the B269, Kent Hatch Rd, take care on the descent of Trevereux Hill, bumps at the bottom!
4. The short stretch of the A25 after Godstone to Bletchingly is a busy road, but it does have a bike lane, so single out here.
5. After Chipstead watch out on the descent of How Lane.
