OCTOBER SOCIAL RIDE

The October Social Ride gets a little bit more Social!

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. One in eight women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Of those, some will go on to develop secondary breast cancer, which while treatable is ultimately not curable. Sadly our good friend Maureen is one of this group. Maureen has been cycling with BCC since the club reformed in 2017 and also cycles with one of our fellow south London clubs, BellaVelo. Her two clubs plan to join forces, for a Super BCC + BV Social Ride in support of breast cancer awareness and to raise money for Maureen’s chosen charity - One More City.

We’ve adapted our Pancake Ride, starting at Bedford Hill Place as usual and picking up the BV’s at Norbiton Station - with a short coffee stop / pit stop on route at Chobham or Ripley depending on your pace group. The ride will have the usual pace groups but just one distance - 100kms - so we are unlikely to all meet mid ride but there is the opportunity to finish and meet up at La Ciclista at East Sheen for those who wish to.

We do hope you can join us and we invite you to make a donation to a very worthy cause dear to Maureen and us all.

*Note to members - Bella Velo don't insist on riders having BC insurance so we will be potentially riding with uninsured cyclists. As always, we ask riders to be responsible for their own safety and ride at their own risk.
