captain’s surprise 2021

Hello Harvey!

June’s Club Ride route pulls together many of my favourite local lanes, climbs (and views), descents and a little stretch of trail too. Finishing off with a flat run-in back in to London.

The route takes us due south from Balham, up to Chipstead, down through Reigate and through the lanes to Rusper. We then turn and head north, passing Tanhouse Farm, to Newdigate, Capel and up to Coldharbour. Then descending to Wescott and pick-up a short stretch of NCN 22 that brings us to the foot of White Down Lane. Up, then down again to Effingham...with the option to nip into Polesden Lacey for a second stop. The last stretch brings us back on a familiar run through Downside, Stoke D’Abernon, Esher and home via Wimbledon.

Please note:
1. CAUTION At km 61 we turn right off the A29. Please take extra care, visibility is very limited. keep your group close.
2. At km 65 the route forks left off Coldharbour Lane on to Logmore Lane,.don’t fly past the turn! Also beware Logmore Lane descent is a little lumpy, please take extra care and space out whilst descending.
3. At km 70 we pick-up a trail section of NCN 22. A little stretch of gravel. Flat.
4. Polesden Lacey variation - km 80, short trail section to take you through the back gate to the cafe.

Cafes & Stops:
Tanhouse Farmhouse at 53kms
Polesden Lacey at 81kms
